World Press Freedom, May 3, is observed in many countries in the region, but is usually ignored by Singaporeans. This year, however, a group of independent activists ensured that there was at least a whimper of support for press freedom. Five activists – Chong Kai Xiong, Ho Choon Hiong, Isrizal, Noora Zul, Seelan Palay and Shafiie – posed for the camera with banners made out of sheets of newspaper, decrying press controls. The activists are mainly/all members of the new human rights group, SG Human Rights. View the pictures here, and read Ho Choon Hiong's blog here.
